Generally speaking, whistleblowers get a bad rap. They are often portrayed as ungrateful, greedy, eccentric, and even crazy. Fortunately in our experience this has rarely, if ever, been the case.

The overwhelming majority of whistleblowers are actually profoundly loyal, committed employees who have high expectations of their employers. It is when those high expectations are not met, due to lack of standards and morals, that the whistleblower then becomes frustrated and desperate.

By the time most people come to us, they have exhausted every effort to convince their employer to do the right thing themselves. We are typically a last resort. What keeps them from coming forward sooner? Fear and doubt. The fear of losing their job and the doubt that anything will ever change. This holds true from receptionists to CEOs and everyone in between.

Every great employee is a potential whistleblower and should be treated as such. Many companies are beginning to create a culture of transparency and responsibility. However, there are still those that continue to operate behind closed doors perpetuating fraudulent behaviors. All it takes is one great employee, one whistleblower, to speak up and come forward with a False Claims Act case to put an end to their employer’s dishonest and illegal activities.
